SCALLOPED  APPLES  & ONIONS

Ingredients:

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

4 tablespoons butter, melted

5 red or green apples, cored and thinly sliced

8 ounces (1 1/2 cups) pasteurized process cheese, cut into small pieces

2 cups FRENCH'S® Cheddar French Fried Onions or FRENCH'S® Original French Fried Onions

Directions:

Heat oven to 375°F. Sauté onion in 2 tbsp. butter in medium skillet over medium-high heat for 3 minutes until tender. Add apples and sauté 5 minutes until apples are tender.

Stir 1 cup cheese, 1 cup French Fried Onions and remaining melted butter into apple mixture. Transfer to greased 9-inch deep dish pie plate.

Bake, uncovered, for 20 minutes until hot. Add remaining cheese and onions. Bake 5 minutes until cheese melts.

Tips from French's

Tip: To save time and cleanup, apple mixture may be baked in a heat-proof skillet if desired. Wrap skillet handle in heavy-duty foil.
