3 cup (6 ounces) FRENCH'S® Crispy Fried Onions White Cheddar or FRENCH'S® Crispy Fried Onions
1 chayotes, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices
2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 large eggs, beaten
HEAT oven to 400°F. Place Crispy Fried Onions into plastic bag. Crush with hands or rolling pin.Transfer to pie plate or waxed paper.
PLACE flour into separate plastic bag. Toss chayote pieces in flour; shake off excess.
DIP chayote pieces into beaten egg; then coat in onion crumbs, pressing firmly to adhere.
PLACE chayote pieces in a single layer on lightly greased rack set over rimmed baking sheet. Bake 10 to 15 min. or until tender.
Note: Chayotes are a gourd-like fruit similar in size, color and shape to a large green pear. They are also known as 'mirlitons’. Prepare chayotes in a similar manner for summer squash. Look for FRENCH'S® Cripsy Fried Onions in the canned vegetable aisle!
