This recipe was created for our daughter who is a picky eater. It was a good way to incorporate veggies and protien into her diet. She is now 21 and still loves her Dad's Sheperd's Pie. She should, she is Irish after all.
6 oz FRENCH'S® French Fried Onions
2 tbsp FRENCH'S® Reduced Sodium Worcestershire Sauce (30 % less Sodium)
1 lb Ground Beef or Ground Turkey
2 lb Yellow or Red potatoes
1 lb mixed veggies, carrot, peas, corn, green beans
6 oz tomato paste with italain seasoning
2 tbsp butter
3/4 cup warm milk
6 oz water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Peel and quarter potatoes and boil in salted water for 20 minutes or until tender.
In a skillet brown meat for about 4 minutes then add: bag of veggies, tomato paste, 6 oz (1 can) of water, worcestershire, and 1/2 of crumbled Fried Onions. Stir and cook for 5-10 minutes.
When potatos are done mash with milk and butter.
Then to a 2 1/2 quart greased casserole dish add 1/2 of the mashed potatoes, then beef mixture and then top with remaining mashed potatoes. Top pie with remaining crushed Fried Onion's. Bake for 20 minutes til golden brown. Enjoy!
