Southwest Cornbread Dressing

My family and friends are smiling because this dressing has a surprise ingredient that gives this traditional holiday dish a delicious twist.

Ingredients:

2 tbsp FRENCH'S® Classic Worcestershire Sauce

5 cup cornbread or prepared cornbread dressing mix

1/2 lb butter

1 cup onion, chopped

1/2 cup celery, chopped

1/2 lb Mexican Chorizo soft sausage (not encased)

4 eggs

16 oz chicken stock

1/2 cup water

2 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper

Directions:

In a large skillet melt the butter over high heat and saute the chopped onion and celery for 7 minutes until they are beginning to wilt. Add the chorizo, mixing well, and cook for 5 minutes, stirring several times.Add the broth and stir to blend all the ingredients well. Set aside. In a large mixing bowl mix the cornbread, salt, pepper and the ingredients from the skillet. In a separate bowl beat the eggs until frothy and gently fold them into the cornbread mixture. Spoon the dressing loosely into a greased 13 X 9 inch baking pan (do not pack down). Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes until browned on the top. Serve with baked ham or turkey.
Chorizo may not be a familiar sausage for many people who unfortunately do not know how delicious it is. The unique flavor of Chorizo gives a rich and spicy twist to an old favorite
