Congratulations to Heather Smith for Winning the 2009 Cookoff

Smokey Monte Christos

I have been making these for years for holidays and special occassions for breakfasts, football snacks, Christmas or Thanksgiving Brunch for my family. Everyone loves them especially the kids. They are a tradition now for special occassions and my daughter can't wait for a special holiday for me to make them. They're little salty, a little sweet, crucnhy, warm and cheesey. What more would you want. Plus there are endless variations. An added plus, they can be inexpensive to make. The sandwiches can be prepared the night before, then just dip in egg mixture and fry when ready.
