It's like eating a zesty, smoky, grilled onion cheeseburger in a pie! Who wouldn't smile? A wedge of this is a smoked sausage, cheeseburger and onion ring meal all wrapped into one. We love the flavor of cheddar and jalapeno smoked sausages with French's Yellow Mustard, and all of us are "Mustard Burger" lovers (only French's will do). These two faves served as inspiration for the best shepherd's pie you'll ever taste.
Ingredients:
2 tbsp FRENCH'S® Classic Yellow® Mustard
2 cup FRENCH'S® French Fried Onions Products
1 lb ground beef
.5 lb cheddar jalapeno smoked sausages, chopped (1/2 lb.)
.25 cup ketchup (1/4 cup)
8 oz shredded cheddar cheese
2 cup frozen mixed vegetables
4 cup refrigerated prepared mashed potatoes
1/2 tsp pepper
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In large skillet, cook ground beef until done. Remove from heat, drain excess fat and stir in black pepper, chopped sausage, mustard, ketchup, 1 1/2 cups of the cheese, and 1/2 cup fried onions.
In bottom of a 9-10 inch, deep-dish pie pan, sprinkle 1 cup fried onions evenly. Spread meat mixture evenly over onions and top with mixed vegetables.
Sprinkle green beans s with remaining cheese.
Spread mashed potatoes evenly over the entire pie, all the way to the edges. Sprinkle with remaining onions, pressing lightly into potatoes..
Bake for 25-30 minutes. Cut into 8 wedges and serve.

Can cut this into 6, larger wedges if desired. This is what we do, as there are six in our family, but the servings are pretty big.
