The flavor of these burgers is amazing! They are not too spicy and sure to be a family favorite.
Ingredients:
2 tsp FRENCH'S® Classic Worcestershire Sauce
1 cup FRENCH'S® French Fried Onions
1 red fresno chile pepper (red japaleno pepper)
1 cup jarred roasted red peppers, drained (reserve juice)
3 tbsp minced fresh cilantro, divided
1.5 lb ground chuck
4 Monterey Jack cheese, thick sliced
4 high quality hamburger buns, split
1.5 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
Directions:
Preheat a gas grill to medium high heat.
When the grill is ready, place the Red Fresno pepper on the grill rack, cover and cook, turning occasionally until blackened on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from grill and place in paper bag or on plate covered with plastic wrap. *When pepper is cool enough to handle, (about 5 minutes) peel and discard outer blackened skin and stem. Slice in half and remove seeds and membranes and reserve. Place Red Fresno pepper flesh, roasted red pepper and 2 Tablespoons cilantro into small food processor or blender and process until smooth. Remove ½ cup, set aside and reserve for topping.
To pepper mixture in food processor add an additional 1 Tablespoon cilantro, 2 Tablespoons reserved roasted red pepper liquid and reserved seeds and membranes to food processer and blend until smooth. Put pepper mixture from food processor in large bowl and combine the ground chuck, French’s Worcestershire Sauce, salt and pepper, mix well handling as little as possible. Shape the mixture into 4 equal patties to fit the buns. Place the patties on the grill, cover and cook for 4-6 minutes per side for medium or until desired doneness. During the last 2-3 minutes of cooking, place cheese on the patties to melt and place the buns cut sides down on the grill rack to toast lightly.
To assemble the burgers, place the patties on the bottom bun; evenly spread the pepper mixture over the burgers; top with ¼ cup French’s onion rings and the bun tops and enjoy!
*Note: Use caution when handling peppers, do not touch eyes, wear rubber gloves or wash hands with soapy water immediately following contact.
