Onion Filled Soft Pretzels with Orange-Dijon Dip

The kids take over on this one and laughter fills the house as they make flower, heart and traditional pretzels shapes. They love to pat and pinch and roll the dough. A great rainy day project, and you won’t hear a single one say “I’m bored”. Just be sure to supervise the baking. These memories are golden.

1 cup FRENCH'S® Cheddar French Fried Onions

1/3 cup FRENCH'S® Dijon Mustard

1 can refrigerated breadsticks 11-oz.

1 egg white, lightly beaten

1 tbsp coarse salt

3 tbsp orange marmalade

1 tbsp brown sugar


Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place the onions in a zip-top bag and crush very fine with a rolling pin. Place in a bowl. Open the can of breadsticks and separate into 12 pieces. Slightly stretch and flatten dough on an un-floured table or countertop. Place a line of onion crumbs down the center of 6 breadsticks. Top with a plain breadstick and pinch all edges together tightly to seal. Gently roll and twist to about a 12” rope. Make into a pretzel shape . Place on a greased baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Brush with the beaten egg, then sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake for 13-15 minutes, until golden brown. While they bake combine the mustard, orange marmalade and brown sugar in a small microwavable dish. Microwave on high for 30 seconds. Stir and serve with warm pretzels.
