It's always fun to bring a new change to an old traditional favorite. My family and friends loved the French's Fried Onions in place of the rice and the goats cheese added a new twist in flavor.
Ingredients:
3 cup FRENCH'S® French Fried Onions Products
4 tsp FRENCH'S® Spicy Brown Mustard
4 large red bell peppers
1 large clove garlic, minced
1/2 lb ground Italian sausage
2 oz parmesan cheese, coarsely grated
5 oz soft goats cheese
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
4 tbsp water
Directions:
Preheat oven 375 degrees.
Cut thin slice off the top of each pepper to remove stalks and scoop out seeds.
In a large skillet over medium high heat add garlic and sausage; cook until sausage is no longer pink, about 3 minutes. Stir in French’s French Fried Onion Products.
Stir in French’s Spicy Brown Mustard, parmesan cheese, goat’s cheese and tomatoes. Remove from heat. Spoon the stuffing into the peppers; placing upright in an 8x8 baking dish. Place water into bottom of baking dish. Bake for 40 minutes or until peppers have softened.
This recipe can be easily doubled or tripled for a large family gathering or potluck!
