This little appetizer (pupu) is a heavenly (lani) mouthful with a Hawaiian influence. The blend of French's Fried Onions, smokey bacon, sweet pineapple and savory cheese is balanced well, with the French's Classic Worcestershire Sauce adding a extra touch of goodness. My husband (not an onion lover) smiles and reaches for more -- if the kids have left any!
Ingredients:
1/2 tsp FRENCH'S® Classic Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 cup FRENCH'S® French Fried Onions
3 oz low fat cream cheese
1 egg
2 tbsp diced dried pineapple
2 tbsp Fresh Shredded Parmesan Cheese
2 tbsp precooked bacon bits
12 Won Ton Wrappers
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 F.
Filling: Beat cream cheese, egg and French's Classic Worcestershire Sauce together in a small bowl. Reserve 12 large pieces of French's French Fried Onions, and slightly crush the rest into the measuring cup. Add to cream cheese mix with pineapple, Parmesan cheese, and bacon bits.
Spray one side of the won ton wrappers with baking spray and gently press each into a cup of a 12-cup mini-muffin pan. Spray inside/top of wrappers lightly with baking spray. Divide filling mixture between the cups, about a tablespoon each. Top each with a reserved French's French Fried Onion piece. Bake for 10 minutes, or until won ton is browned and filling is set. Remove from pan immediately and serve. 6 servings, 2 each.
Bottoms of cups remain crisp if removed from pans immediately.
(I prefer to add French's Classic Worcestershire Sauce to the filling, but because I was not sure if the baking spray counts as an ingredient, I will also submit the recipe leaving the Worcestershire out and counting the spray as an ingredient.)
