German Potatoes and Sausage

This German Potato recipe brings back great childhood memories of growing up on the farm. At all family gatherings my mom would prepare a version of these potatoes and as I have grown up with a family of my own I have adapted it to our tastes.

Ingredients:

3/4 cup FRENCH'S® French Fried Onions

1 tbsp FRENCH'S® Spicy Brown Mustard

5 lb red potatoes

1 lb bacon and drippings

1 cup apple cider vinegar

1.5 cup granulated sugar

4 tbsp flour

1 lb fully cooked sausage sliced

9.5 cup water

1 tsp salt

1/8 tsp pepper

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place potatoes in large stock pot and cover with 8 cups of water. Bring to a boil for 20 minutes drain and once cool peel and dice. While potatoes are cooking, in skillet cook bacon until crisp and reserve ½ cup of bacon drippings. In medium saucepan bring bacon drippings, 1 ½ cup water, and apple cider vinegar to a boil. In small bowl combine sugar, pepper, salt, French’s Spicy Bold mustard, and flour. Add mixture to boiling saucepan and stir constantly for 3 minutes. Place diced potatoes in large casserole dish pour sauce mixture over potatoes and add sliced sausage. Toss well to coat and top with French’s French Fried Onions. Bake for 40 minutes and enjoy.
