What can be more of a comfort food than macaroni and cheese! This version uses flavorful cheese and other ingredients that my family loves. It provides a complete meal with a side of salad. A great way to end the day with the family.
Ingredients:
12 oz FRENCH'S® French Fried Onions
1 lb Cellentani Pasta
12 oz evaporated milk
5 large eggs
1/2 lb grated Gruyere cheese
3/4 lb diced ham
1 lb cooked cocktail shrimp
1/2 lb grated Fontina cheese
2 gal water
2 tbsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
Directions:
Cook pasta in salted water 3 minutes less than directed on the box. Beat eggs with the evaported milk. Add pepper, salt, cheese, ham and shrimp to the egg mixture. Butter a 9"X13" glass baking dish and add the pasta mixture. Place covered with aluminum foil in a preheated 375 degree oven for 25 minutes. Remove cover and add French's Fried onions. Return to oven for 15 minutes.
-Can add a pinch of nutmeg (preferably freshly grated).
-For more crunch place under broiler for a few minutes.
-Can use other shapes of pasta. But, this shape holds the cheese sauce.
