This sandwich tastes like an expensive meal, but in reality, it is quite affordable. One expensive ingredient (steak) is spread out in order to serve several people. The balance of sweet and savory makes this a very satisfying and tasty dinner!
Ingredients:
1 tbsp FRENCH'S® Classic Worcestershire Sauce
4 tbsp FRENCH'S® Honey Mustard
3/4 lb 1 Steak such as Sirloin
2 tsp Grill seasoning
1 Onion - sliced
2 tbsp Butter
1 cup Cheddar cheese
1 Crusty french bread
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
Directions:
Start by melting butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions, a few dashes of Worcestershire Sauce, and salt and pepper to taste. Cook over medium about 5 min until onions start to soften and become translucent. Then reduce heat to medium low and cook stirring occasionally until onions are sweet and caramel in color. Next, season steak with a few dashes of Worcestershire Sauce and grill seasoning. Grill to desired done-ness (suggested medium rare). Let steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing thin. Meanwhile, cut french bread horizontally (sub-style) and lightly toast under the broiler. To build sandwich: Spread French's Honey Mustard on each side of toasted bread. Next, layer sliced steak on the bottom half of the bread. Top with caramelized onions and cheddar cheese. Place open-faced sandwich under the broiler until cheese is melted. Top with top half of bread, and slice to desired serving size. Serves at least 2, up to 4, depending on how hungry you are!
