This is a delicious version of the traditional Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. I. personally, will take a cheese steak sandwich any way I can get it, so I figured why not incorporate the great flavors into my all-time favorite food...pizza. The flavor combination turned out to be exceptional! The pizza is ideal paired with a salad for a quick family dinner, but is just as great with some beer and chips for your football party!
Ingredients:
1.5 cup FRENCH'S® French Fried Onions
1 prepared 12" pizza crust
3 tbsp olive oil, divided
1/2 cup cheese dip
1 cup fresh mushrooms, thinly sliced
1 cup green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 lb sirloin steak, trimmed of excess fat & sliced very thinly
1 cup Provolone cheese, shredded
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
Directions:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
Place pizza crust on a round pizza pan. Lightly brush 1 Tbsp. olive oil over the entire crust. Melt the cheese dip in the microwave for about 15 seconds and spread it evenly across the crust. Set aside.
In a large skillet, add the remaining 2 Tbsp. olive oil, the mushrooms, and green pepper. Add the salt and pepper. Saute over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Meanwhile, slice the beef into thin, bite-sized pieces. Add this to the skillet with the mushrooms and peppers, and continue to another 4-5 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through and the peppers are tender. During the last minute of cooking, stir in 1 c. of the FRENCH'SŪ French Fried Onions. When this mixture is ready, remove it from heat and spoon it onto the prepared crust. Top with the shredded provolone cheese.
Reduce oven temperature to 425 degrees F.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the provolone is bubbly. Top with remaining 1/2 c. of FRENCH'SŪ French Fried Onions. Slice into 8 pieces and serve.
