French Rarebit

My family loves this easy, but decadent version of the old favorite. The special French Toast makes this dish irresistible. With the help of French's products, there's nothing but smiles at my kitchen table.

2 cup FRENCH'S® French Fried Onions

1 tbsp FRENCH'S® Dijon Mustard

1 tbsp FRENCH'S® Classic Worcestershire Sauce

15 oz jar Cheese Whiz

4 Croissants

2 large eggs

2 tbsp milk

3 tsp butter

Slice the croissants in half and set aside.. Crush the onions in a plastic bag with a rolling pin. Pour crumbs into a pie plate, reserving 1/2 cup for later. Beat the eggs and milk together in a pie plate. Dip the cut side of the croissants quickly into the egg mixture, then into the crushed onions. Heat the butter in a large non-stick frying pan until melted. Place the croissants in the frying pan onion side down. Heat for 3 minutes over medium heat until golden brown and crisp. Flip toast over and brown an additional minute. In a microwave safe bowl, combine the jar of cheese whiz with the mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Heat on high for one minute, stir, then heat for an additional 1 1/2 minutes. Place 2 toasted croissant halves on a plate, onion side up. Pour cheese sauce over toast, sprinkle with remaining onions. Serve hot.
