This recipe was handed down from my mother in law Rita, who loves to cook and try new recipes. She liked this one enough for me to try. I have had people from Louisiana say it is as good as any from Louisiana. This recipe has been passed along to my stepdaughter Jennifer who has perfected it for her family. I know this recipe will be passed along to each of her three children and so on it will be handed down over the coming years.
Ingredients:
2 tbsp FRENCH'S® Classic Worcestershire Sauce
1.5 lb Shrimp medium/large
.50 cup Onion small dice
.50 cup Green Bell Pepper small dice
.50 cup Celery small dice
8 oz Tomato sauce
2 tbsp Spicy chilli powder
1 tbsp Galic minced
4 oz water
1 tsp salt
.50 tsp pepper
Directions:
Saute 1 tbsp of vegetable oil with the onions, peppers and celery until translucent, add the minced garlic. Stir in the remaining ingredients except for the shrimp. Simmer for 30 minutes, add the shrimp and cook for an additional 8-10 minutes until the shrimp are done. Serve over cooked rice.
This recipe freezes well minus the shrimp. It can also be doubled and froze for future Shrimp Creole cravings.
