Nothing says classic American cooking like a hamburger. This is one version of our family's favorite way to eat a burger. It's messy, and it's mouthwatering, and it's become a family tradition. What's not to smile about?
Ingredients:
1/4 cup FRENCH'S® Classic Worcestershire Sauce
6 oz FRENCH'S® French Fried Onions
6 tbsp FRENCH'S® Classic Yellow® Mustard
2 lb yellow onion
1/2 cup olive oil
2 lb ground beef
6 oz muenster cheese, sliced
6 good quality crusty hamburger buns
Directions:
Preheat grill.Peel and cut onions into 1/4 inch slices.Pour oil into a large saute pan and heat over medium high heat. Add onions and stir to coat. When onions and oil start to sizzle, turn heat down to medium-low. Cook 20 minutes,stirring occasionally,or until onions are golden brown. While onions cook, form the ground beef into six patties. Brush patties with worcestershire sauce, and sprinkle with salt and pepper, if desired. Grill approximately five minutes per side, or until desired doneness is reached.Place one slice of cheese on each burger. Remove burgers from grill and place on buns. Spread one tablespoon of mustard on each burger. Place caramelized onions evenly over each burger, and top with French fried onions. Serve immediately with many napkins.
To add an extra dimension in flavor, brush olive oil on the cut sides of each bun. Sprinkle with garlic salt and broil approximately two minutes.
