Chicken Burgers Italiano

Hearty and healthy, I combined fresh Italian sausage (chicken), French's French Fried Onions and Worcestershire sauce with a few other simple ingredients to produce an awesome burger. My family truly smiles when I serve this one. They think it's too good to be good-for-you! Delicioso!

COOK TIME 10 min
PREP TIME 20 min

Ingredients:

1/4 cup FRENCH'S® French Fried Onions

2 tsp FRENCH'S® Classic Worcestershire Sauce

1 lb fresh chicken Italian sausage (I use Al Fresco with red and green peppers)

2 tbsp olive oil, divided

4 oz part-skim mozzarella cheese, sliced in 4 equal slices

1/3 cup sun-dried tomato pesto (I use Classico)

4 ciabatta sandwich rolls, split

2 cup fresh arugula leaves

Directions:

Place rolls split side up on large baking sheet. With half the olive oil, brush each side lightly. Set aside. Brush the bottom of a large skillet with remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil. Remove sausage from casings by carefully cutting lengthwise through the casings. Place sausage into a mixing bowl and combine with French's onions and Worcestershire sauce. Shape sausage mixture into 4 patties. Heat skillet over medium-high heat and place sausage patties in hot skillet. Cook a few minutes on both sides until brown and done. Remove to plate; top each with cheese slice and keep warm. Place ciabattas under broiler until golden brown. Melt cheese by placing sausage patties in microwave or under broiler. To assemble burgers, place a sausage patty with cheese on the bottom half of each ciabatta roll. Top each with 1/2 cup arugula leaves. Spread top halves of ciabatta rolls with 1 to 2 tablespoons pesto. Place tops on burgers.
