Black Bean Burgers

I’ll ask my husband, what do you want for lunch ? He always jokes and says, a BEAN SANDWICH ! So I came up with these delicious burgers. That makes me smile. A great meatless meal, with lots of protein and fiber.

6 oz FRENCH'S® French Fried Onions

2 tbsp FRENCH'S® Classic Worcestershire Sauce

15 oz can black beans, rinsed and drained

1/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs

4 oz goat cheese, crumbled

1/2 tsp chili powder

3 large eggs

4 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive oil

1/2 tbsp water

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper


In a food processor, crush the onions into fine crumbs. Divide in half, placing one portion in a pie plate for dipping and the other half into a large mixing bowl. Pulse the black beans in a food processor 5 to 6 times until beans are brokeen up, but not a paste. In the bowl with the onions, add the beans, bread crumbs, goat cheese, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder,salt, pepper and 2 eggs. Mix well with hands, then form into 4 patties. Beat the remaining egg with a tablespoon of water. Brush each burger with the egg, then dip into the onion crumbs. Heat the olive oil in a large non stick frying pan until hot. Gently place the burgers into the hot oil. Fry about 3 minutes each side., until onions are golden brown and burgers are cooked through. Serve warm
