My Best Friend Forever, smiles because he thinks this is all about him. Little does he know this man-pleasing candy, is named after Bacon and French Fried Onions. The Best French Fried ! When I serve this incredible candy to my other friends, they want me to be their BFF, and tell them the secret. It’s the onions. Shusssh. Easy recipe for the “tweens” and teens, with adult supervision. Makes a great gift.
Ingredients:
1 cup FRENCH'S® French Fried Onions
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 tbsp butter
1 cup salted peanuts
1/2 cup bacon crumbles
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
Directions:
Sprinkle the onions in the center of a cookie sheet. Set aside.
In a 2 qt. microwave safe bowl, combine the sugar and corn syrup. Heat on high power for 4 minutes. Stir in peanuts and bacon crumbles, then return to microwave for 3 more minutes on high. Stir in butter and vanilla, and heat 1 ½ minutes more on high. Stir in the baking soda and immediately pour over the onions, spreading out candy to about ¼ inch thick and pulling in onions with a spatula . Cool completely, then break into pieces. Store in tightly sealed container.
