They are a moist and crunchy burger with a little spice - none like you can get anywhere.
Ingredients:
3 cup FRENCH'S® French Fried Onions
2 lb Extra Lean Ground Beef
1.5 tsp Crushed Red Pepper
2 tsp Minced Garlic
6 oz Pepper Jack Cheese
2 eggs
1 tsp Black pepper
1.5 tsp salt
Directions:
Preheat oven to 420 degrees
Crush French Fried Onions in a plastic bag - remove 1/2 cup and save rest.
Mix together in a bowl the ground beef, eggs, salt, pepper, red pepper, and garlic. Add 1/2 cup of crushed French Fried Onions to meat mixture.
Divide into 6 equal portions - form a ball around 1 x 1/2 inch cube of pepper jack cheese in center. Form patty. Coat each patty with crushed French Fried Onions.
Place on rack and bake at 420 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until meat thermometer indicates 180 degrees for well done.
Allow to sit for 5 minutes before serving. Serve on bun with favorite toppings.
This is a recipe passed from my grandmother to my mother. My family continues to request these burgers and even call from college to get the recipe. The main change I have done over the years is take if from the frying pan to the oven.
