When I was a teenager, my Mom made a variation of this recipe. She and I were running errands on a Saturday, and while we were gone, my brother, ate the entire pie for a snack. I'll never forget that day, and each time I make this recipe it takes me right back to my teen years and that Saturday.
Ingredients:
2 tsp FRENCH'S® Dijon Mustard
15 oz Box- Refrigerated Pie Crusts
1 lb Ground Beef
1 Large Onion, Divided Use
1/2 cup Beef Broth
4 tsp Dry Onion Soup Mix
1/2 tsp No salt added Garlic & Herb Seasoning Blend
12 oz Pkg. frozen Hash Browns, Thawed
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Ease one pie crust into a 9" pie plate.
3. Chop half the onion, and thinly slice the other half
4. In a medium bowl, mix the meat, chopped onion, broth, soup mix
and seasoning blend.
5. Spread into pie crust.
6. Spread the 2 teaspoons dijon mustard over the meat mixture.
7. In a medium bowl, toss hash browns, sliced onions, salt and pepper;
place over the mustard.
8. Place pie crust on top; seal and crimp crust.
9. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes. Remove from oven and serve.
Pie will slice better if let set for approximately 10 minutes after
baking.
