Baker's One-Pan Stove-top Faux Baked Beans

"Real" baked bean flavor with only a range or open fire to work from! (Handy for apartment dwellers, camping trips, and cookouts with limited sources of cooking heat... or those inconvenient times when it is just too hot to fire up the oven -- or there is not enough oven space to work with the rest of the menu.)

COOK TIME 30 min
PREP TIME 20 min

Ingredients:

1 tbsp FRENCH'S® Mustard Products

1 tsp FRENCH'S® Reduced Sodium Worcestershire Sauce (30 % less Sodium)

1 cup FRENCH'S® French Fried Onions Products

2 pt Pork & Beans (cans, 15 oz ea)

1 cup Small to Medium Onion (chopped fine)

8 tbsp Bacon slices (or equiv. in

1/2 tsp Garlic Powder

1/2 cup Ketchup

Directions:

In a large saucepan or skillet (with available close-fitting lid): Fry bacon until crisp, remove from drippings & drain; crumble / chop. Sautee onion in drippings until semi-transparent; add 1/2 of water and other liquids, bring to boil. Add beans and remaining ingredients *except* garnish (FFF Onions). Adjust heat to simmer. Serve hot, with each diner adding garnish of French Fried onions to their own taste.
Adjust spices to taste of your own family. (I usually add 1/4 tsp thyme, and recently have started adding 1/4 tsp powdered ginger.) If using bacon bits, use approx. 1 Tbsp vegetable oil to sautee onion. Optionally, prepare and then chill, serving cold.
