Ann's Easy Apple Delight

We like apples served lots of ways. These are easy, and make a snack, side dish, or meal. "How do you like those apples?" Smile, if you can think of another way to serve this recipe!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup FRENCH'S® French Fried Onions

4 Cooking Apples (I prefer Gala or Rome)

1/4 cup Water

1 tsp Ground Cinnamon

1/4 cup Sugar (or artifical sweetener equivalent)

4 oz Cheese (optional)

4 Bacon (optional)

4 tbsp Yogurt (optional)

Directions:

Peel, core, and quarter apples. Place apples into a large skillet coated with cooking spray, and add water. Cook over medium heat until tender. (Fork slides in/out easily). Add French’s fried onions and stir gently. Add more water if necessary. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sweetener (or sugar) and stir gently. Remove from heat. Optional: Top with shredded or sliced cheese, crispy bacon, and/or yogurt
Various uses (and you may think of others): Side Dish Filling (with or without optional ingredients) for Pita Bread or Flour Tortilla OR Topping (with or without optional ingredients) for Whole Grain Toast
