Funny Face Chili Dog Pie

Who can resist a smile when your food is smiling back at you?

Ingredients:

3 cup FRENCH'S® Cheddar French Fried Onions

1 lb Ground chuck

1 lb Hot dogs, divided

1 cup Ketchup

2 tbsp Chili powder

2 tbsp Onion powder

8 oz Cheddar cheese, shredded

24 oz Prepared mashed potatoes

1 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. 2. Brown beef in a nonstick pan over medium low heat. Drain excess fat. 3. Cut one hot dog in half for a nose. Cut off two ends of a hot dog for the eyes. Set these aside. Split the remaining hot dogs in half lengthwise and slice into 1/2" pieces. 4. Mix the ketchup, chili powder, and onion powder in a bowl. Add hot dogs, ground chuck, and cheddar cheese. Transfer the meat mixture into a 2 quart quiche pan, then spread the mashed potatoes evenly on top. You will probably find it easiest if you start spreading from the edges and gradually work towards the center. 5. Place in 375 degree oven for 20-25 minutes. 6. Remove from oven and make your funny face with reserved hot dogs and French's Cheddar French Fried Onions. 7. Return to oven for 5 more minutes. Serve with the remaining French's Cheddar French Fried Onions to sprinkle over top. Beverage Pairing: 2009 vintage milk, soda, or water.
Use French's Cheddar French Fried Onions for hair, beards, mustaches, etc. Draw earrings, glasses, etc. with the ketchup. Have fun.
